WineDirect is the leader in the industry of software platforms that provide DTC (direct-to-consumer) service to the wine industry. (Basically, they’re a one-stop-shop to help wineries get their product to wine lovers via wine clubs, tastings, online ordering, etc.) They came to us at WHM with a need for a campaign that reinstated their leadership in the industry in a fresh and exciting way to appeal to the new, younger generation of winemakers.
After a couple rounds of visual directions, we landed on this art-deco inspired style – utilizing their recognizable brand gradient in a more freeform style as shape fills, paired with abstract renditions of wine glasses and bottles. These were rolled out to organic + paid display ads, emails, and a couple print ads in Wine Enthusiast magazine.
Honorary mention to an R1 visual direction of mine (shown below) that holds a sweet spot in my heart, featuring a use of their bold chartreuse brand color and wine inspired iconography. This direction was heavily inspired by mid-century design, which the brand has touches of throughout their website and in their brand font, Neutraface. It was received positively by some of the WineDirect team before we ultimately landed on the gradient direction.
